Meeting with U.S. Congressman Andy Kim to discuss the opportunities and challenges our two countries face together and the ongoing efforts to secure a longstanding peace
Haji Ajmal Rahmani along with his colleagues in the U.S. and Afghanistan had the pleasure of meeting with U.S. Congressman Andy Kim representing the Third Congressional District of New Jersey. Congressman Kim serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he works diligently on congressional oversight, armed forces, and national security.
Congressman Kim served at the U.S. Agency for International Development, the State Department, and was a civilian advisor to General David Petraeus in Afghanistan. He also served as the Iraq Director of the National Security Council under President Barack Obama, where he helped set policy for dealing with the ISIS terrorist network.
As a former State Department official who worked in Afghanistan, Congressman Kim understands the need for a peace agreement that provides lasting stability for all Afghans. They discussed the opportunities and challenges the two countries face together and the ongoing efforts to secure a longstanding peace agreement that protects vulnerable populations while preserving hard-fought Afghan gains.
Mr. Rahmani and his colleagues appreciate Congressman Kim, the House Armed Services Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee for their work to ensure the Afghan people's long-term peace and stability. They look forward to enhancing this bilateral relationship between the Afghanistan Parliament and the United States Congress to attain common goals and forge a more prosperous future for Afghanistan.
