By 2010, Haji Ajmal Rahmani had established one of the largest fleets
of trucking assets in Afghanistan with the capability to transport
various multi-class cargo. He also set up a state-of-the-art
maintenance facility headquarters in Kabul with satellite facilities in
Hairatan, Aquina, Mazar-e-Sharif, Ghazni, Kandahar, Torghundi, and
Herat, along with staging yards and logistical support hubs. These
investments in infrastructure made his company more competitive
and self-reliant, which made it more attractive for NATO/ISAF
contracting teams to award critical contracts to his company.
Due to the habitual contractual non-performance and non-
conformance of many HNT contractors, Haji Ajmal Rahmani's
company was awarded NATO/ISAF's largest logistics contract in
Afghanistan, National Afghan Trucking (NAT), as a prime contractor.
His company consistently ranked highest on the Order Merit List (OML),
which propelled him to invest further in topping all service provider
charts. His company became the number one choice for dry, heavy,
and fuel cargo transportation services for NATO, ISAF, and US troops
in Afghanistan, and despite challenges, changing requirements, and
a demanding operational tempo, his company was awarded the subsequent NAT contract.
Haji Ajmal Rahmani's commitment to excellence and attention to
detail ensured that drivers were paid well above the industry norms,
were able to rest on the road within the security of the company’s
logistical hubs, and were given a week of paid time off after every 100
hours of road time. His company was recognized by NATO/ISAF and
US Forces numerous times for its performance, mission support, and
delivering optimal results on the contracts.
